EDUCATION
I started my educational journey in 2002 at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. I attended UCCS for a year studying Film and Acting. My intention was to Direct and Produce films, but realized that my heart wasn't in this line of work. I moved to Utah and enrolled at BYU for a semester. I took a few years off of studies after that semester to work and save for future classes.
I returned to school in 2004 and eventually graduated Cum Laude in 2008 with a Bachelor's Degree in English Education from Utah Valley University. In fact, mine was the first class to have the option of graduating with "Utah Valley State College" or "Utah Vally University" on my diploma...I chose the latter. While completing my coursework, I worked for Timpview High School as a Para-Educator in a Special Education classroom in the Behavior Unit. My first teaching job after graduating from UVU was at Independence High School in Provo, UT.
In 2013 I received a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership from Brigham Young University. After leaving Independence High School, I began working full-time teaching at Mountain Ridge Junior High and enrolled in the ExSL program at BYU in 2011. The ExSL program is designed to allow teachers the opportunity to continue working full-time while taking classes and engaging in administrative internships.
I love education! I am dedicated to improving the quality of my own instruction as well as the learning potential of students.
